Anti-ConAss Rally Held in Major Cities across the Philippines

Yesterday an Anti-CONASS Rally was held in the Centerof Makati City, the Financial center of the Philippines and also to other Major Cities like Cebu, Davao and Iloilo that started early in the morning and ended at midnight. The Anti-ConAss rally was held to prevent the Constitutional Assembly that the Pro Arroyo Congressmen is trying to push a year before the 2010 Presidential Election, the Anti-Arroyo Government, Religious Sector, Business Groups and Individuals feels that the Constitutional Assembly is a way for President Arroyo to prolonged her position as the head of the Country by running for Prime Minister, if the CONASS succeed, the Malacañan did not agree nor deny this allegations.

The Anti-CONASS rally in Makati is said to have reach 6 thousand to 10,000 participants but the PNP (Philippine National Police) estimated that there are only at least 5,000 Anti-CONASS protesters. The Anti-CONASS rally was attended by different personalities including artist, politicians, member of the partylist and religious groups.

Even in the internet thousands joined the call for the ANTI-CONASS movement, Social Networking sites like Facebook and Friendster ANTI-CONASS Accounts, said to have reach thousands of members in just a matter of days. The Anti-CONASS rally will continue until the Pro CONASS Congress men abandon the pursuit to amend the Constitution.
